The son of pennsylvania treasurer r. Budd dwyer said his father committed suicide at a crowded news conference thursday because he gave up hope after his conviction in a state fraud and bribery. Robert budd dwyer was a pennsylvania state treasurer who was accused and partially framed for accepting a bribe, resulting in his broadcasted suicide to the whole state on january 22nd, 1987. There was a documentary made on the story of budd dwyer and the trial, where one person admits (after 23 years) that he lied under oath to prove dwyer guilt. Dwyer was scheduled to be sentenced on those charges on , the day after his suicide.
